Memorial Day Weekend!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day holiday! We had a great Memorial Day weekend. We kicked off with a visit from Matt, Laura, and Allie (we missed Claire). It was so great to see them and the Newton family! On Saturday we went to see our friend Theresa dance at the Boulder Creek festival. Afterward, we had some snacks, and William went on a few really fun rides!

Climbing into the bounce house.

To our surprise, William wanted to go on this kid's ferris wheel. We were not sure how he was going to react to it but he loved every minute.

William riding the barrel train!

Choo Choo!

At the fair, there was a root beer stand selling these stainless steel cups with free root beer refills. Between Daddy and William, there was no way we were leaving without one. Here William is enjoying the orange root beer flavor :) Mmm

On Memorial Day, I got to run in my first Bolder Boulder! It is an annual 10k race through town, and one of the most popular and heavily attended 10k races in the country. People come from all over the world to compete. It was a blast...no better way to feel part of this wonderful Colorado community than running the Bolder Boulder!

Mommy's coach :) William said he wanted to do the race with me next year. We have also heard him running around since, saying, "don't give up!" ;)

Afterward, we went down to Pearl St. to watch other runners. It was so fun. William kept asking Daddy to take pictures of him by this dirty truck (the road was closed) and by the street light.

William and his dandelions! He loves to pick these for me and often will bring me one after school or whenever we are outside.

William is doing really great with his potty training, and has now started to go standing up like a real big boy! Love that I have not changed a poopy diaper for over 3 weeks!

~Island Boy~

Our Island Boy playing in the Banyan Tree!

Hammock fun!

Looking handsome, as usual.

Morning drinks.

This is what William thought of Hawai'i!

Thumbs UP!!

Playing his new ukulele

Serenading the Nenes...video to come!

William's attempt at a shaka! Not so bad...and he can definitely do it now!

Kisses for Gil!

Hanalei farmer's market goodies!

Representing Chicago with his Shedd Aquarium hat!

Easter was just around the corner, so William got to do an egg hunt outside our condo one morning!

Mmmm...chocolate eggs!

Vroom Vroom...

Our sandy granola eating munchkin!

Drinking some pink lemonade and relaxing in the hot tub! We spent our last few hours in Kauai at a nice resort before flying out back to Colorado later that evening.

But do we have to leave....???

Caves

We got to see two caves, one was dry and one was wet. They were amazing!

Family shot in the wet cave.

Handsome boys!

Getting down with his new car in the cave.

This is the dry cave. It was very deep. The sand was carried in by a tsunami years ago.

In this picture you can see just how deep the cave is. It was not even taken from the very back, which was at least another 10 feet away!

Treasure Hunt

One day in Kauai, William had his first treasure hunt on the beach just below our condo.

And the hunt begins...

Is it here...?

X marks the spot!

Time to dig!

William got a stick to help us find the treasure.

TREASURE!!!!

What's inside???

There were all kinds of goodies inside including pirate coins, pirate stickers, an eye patch, bulldozer, a scuba diver, and 20 bucks...not so bad!

Here I am trying to convince William to put on his eye patch. He was not into it.

He was, however, really into the new bulldozer (big surprise). We still have sand in our tub from this bulldozer actually :)

William put on a pirate sticker right away.

Bulldozers and sand are fun!

Find William...

A Special moment with my beautiful son!
