Weekdays!

Today, William surprised us by singing this song about the weekdays! We are so proud of how much he is learning! He picks things up really quickly.

French Numbers

Check out this video of William counting to 5 in French! This is his first introduction to French, which is his third language :) - He sure is an international little man!

William @ 3!

Chris and I can’t believe how big our boy is. He is an independent, curious, stubborn, and loving little boy. He surprises us every day!

We are proud at how fast he potty trained and how well he is doing with it. He has not had any nap/overnight accidents at all. He only used the small potty for the first two weeks and has been using the big boy toilet only since (with a seat of course). He likes to go to the bathroom by himself; he will say to us, “I need minute, guys,” and do his thing alone. He loves being able to go potty all by himself when he needs to, and he washes his own hands too! He needs minimal assistance unbuttoning his shorts/pants, and getting up on the toilet, but other than that, he’s on his own.

On our recent road trips we stopped on the side of road and he peed really quickly a few times…boys are lucky to have this privilege! One time, he even went in a urinal, which, in my book, makes him officially a little man! Chris was stoked, it’s definitely a man thing.

He also likes brushing his hair, getting dressed by himself and has fun picking out his big boy underwear, pants, and shirts (we are still working on how to put on shirts ;). He always puts on his own shoes, too.

William is also a chatter box! He likes to talk about all kinds of stuff. One of his sayings is, “that’s the same point.” Sometimes it doesn’t make much sense, but we like that he is trying to make conversation and state his “point.” He also says, “when I was a little boy I used to…,” or, “I have never done that before,” about things he does all the time, like drink water. It’s quite comical. He loves music (no surprise) and he likes to sing, and when a song he likes comes on, he will say “air guitar guys,” or “drums guys,” or “let’s dance.” We all dance together and play air guitar and drums.

We are working on learning more Spanish words, and when he is not cracking up about the way they sound, he is pretty good at pronunciation. Right now we are also working a little on writing and making more shapes. It’s both fun and a great responsibility to be a mom and a teacher!

He is a sweet boy and is always blowing kisses at Chris and I. We are definitely having fun watching him grow into himself and become more aware of the world around him. We have truly enjoyed traveling and experiencing new things and places together and are excited to continue to expose our child to new places and possibilities.

Summer Fun @ Gramps' House

This past Sunday, we went for a visit at Gramps and Granby's house in Westminster, CO! We all had fun swimming at the neighborhood pool, enjoyed a delicious barbecue dinner, and bounced on their backyard trampoline.

William also brought over his new golf set! William has been loving his new golf clubs and is getting really good at putting. We took this shot right after he sunk one.

After the pool, Auntie Lyssie demonstrated some of her science camp experiments! She created a number of cool experiments to demonstrate to younger kids and help teach them that science is fun! We are so proud of her. This photo is a Diet Coke and Mentos explosion.

Hands up! William having fun bouncing with his aunt and uncles.

William also loves the backyard waterfall. One of his favorite things to do is throw rocks into it and watch them splash.

Thanks Gramps, Granby, Lyssie, Cooper, and Cayle for a wonderful summer afternoon hanging out!

Strawberry Hot Springs

One thing Chris and I love to do is visit the Strawberry Park hot springs in Steamboat! We used to go a few times a year before we had William, but hadn't been in a few years. So, we all got in the car and spent a night camping in Steamboat. No trip to Steamboat is complete without a visit to the Strawberry Park hot springs. It's about 10 miles up the mountain from town, nestled in an Aspen grove and surrounded by mountains. It is such a cool and relaxing activity!

William and Daddy through the flowers.

Checking out the waterfall that flows from one pool to the next.

Soaking in the hot springs. Most of the pools are hot, but there is also an ice cold pool. Chris and I both went in the cold pool for a minute to dunk our heads under before returning back to the comforts of the hot pool. It was quite exhilarating!

Enjoying some Hawaiian style shave ice, blueberry and strawberry.

These photos were taken right before the entire top fell on the ground.

Picking a flower for me, what a sweet boy.

All cleaned up and ready for the drive back to Boulder! What a fun family activity.

Camping @ Steamboat, CO

This past weekend, we went for our first family camping trip up to Steamboat, CO! Back when Chris and I first moved to CO, we went camping in Steamboat at this cool secluded spot in the mountains. We found the exact same spot, and it was so special to return with William and Nora! The campsite is really close to a natural hot springs pool that we visited as well.

William found a stick!

Grilled organic hot dogs for dinner!

Daddy's little helper!

Doing his thing like a real camping Colorado boy!

Gorgeous sunset trough the trees and mountains.

The campfire is the highlight of any camping trip! William really enjoyed his first campfire and was very safe and responsible.

Roasting marshmallows! We had talked about this yummy treat all week. We ate them a la carte and made s'mores as well.

After dinner and s'mores it was time for bed. William was also looking forward to sleeping in a tent for the first time. He was such a great boy. We read several stories and cuddled in the tent until William fell asleep. Nora was so sweet and stayed in the tent too.

Brushing teeth the next morning after a great night's sleep in the tent. William slept soundlessly all night and really enjoyed being outdoors.

Breakfast time! We lit a morning campfire and fired up the grill to make breakfast- grilled bacon, fried eggs, and fresh fruits and vegetables!

William is getting so tall, I need to wear heels all the time- story of my life ;)

Happy Camper!

Here is William modeling his citronella bracelet. We all wore them to keep the bugs away.

Time to pack up the tent! We had a blast camping and spending time together as a family, away from cell phones, computers, and work. It was so refreshing and relaxing. We found a new family summer activity!

He got some dirt on his face, hands, and just about everywhere else! Good thing we hit up the hot springs again before going back to Boulder.

Movie @ The Park

This past Friday night (7-8-2011), we went to see a movie at the park in our neighborhood. The Holiday neighborhood where we live used to be a drive-in movie theater. They started showing movies at the Holiday neighborhood park again when the area got developed. "Despicable Me" was the movie they showed. I personally didn't like it for William, but thankfully we were sitting far back from the crowd and William hardly even paid attention to it. Instead, he found a little friend to play and run around with.

William loves flashlights!

William found one of the neighborhood cats and had fun running around chasing it.

It is a great summer evening activity to just walk across the street, eat some popcorn and watch a movie. They show 2-3 a month during summer. The movies are always free and they attract a lot of families.

Officially Potty Trained!

Our little man is officially potty trained! By that I mean he can nap and sleep overnight without a pull up! No more pull ups - only big boy underwear, all day everyday! YAY William! More details to come on his 3 year update!

Beach, Ocean, Waterfall!

On our trip to HI, William said that he was the beach, daddy was the ocean, and I was the waterfall. I thought it was sweet and wanted to blog it so we don't forget about these special little moments we have shared.

Thankfully, we got a nice shot of all three together.

Wedding

We had a fun 4th of July weekend. On Sunday, our friends Jessica and Richard (Jameson & Isabel's parents) got married in Lyons, CO. We all had fun dressing up and spending the evening with good friends. There were about 10 other kids there, all pretty close in age to William, so the kids had plenty of fun.

Family photo.

Handsome!

4th of July

We hope everyone enjoyed a fun 4th of July weekend! This year we went see the fireworks at the Chautauqua park in Boulder. We've been there dozens of times in the day for hikes, but never at night. We were several hundred feet up the side of the mountain, so the fireworks were practically at eye level. We brought a picnic dinner and secured a nice spot. As we waited for the Boulder display to start, we could see 10 or 12 other displays on the horizon from nearby cities and Denver suburbs. Then, the Boulder display began. It was a fun and unique way to watch the 2011 4th of July fireworks display!

William was running around and I had a hard time getting a great photo. These photos do a good job a showing the overlook view of Boulder we had.

Nora enjoyed the fireworks too. In this photo, her little ear is peeking in on the left hand side.

This 4th of July we really missed our Chicago family crew! Last year we had the privilege of being back in Chicago for the 4th of July and William had a blast enjoying the fireworks and being with his grandparents! We are really hoping everything falls in to place so we can move back to the Chicago area and be closer to our Chi-town family this fall! William is really missing his Pamma, Grandpa, Uncles and Aunts, and of course his cousins. Oh and we can't forget the pets! We will finally be returning at the end of August for a visit and can't hardly wait!

Here are some photos from our time in Chicago on the 4th of July last year.

Like Grandma, Like Grandson!

He looks so little and baby-ish in these photos!

Here is a video from last year's 4th of July Hawthorn Woods fireworks with his Pamma and Grandpa! Let's just say, William was a very excited and joyous little boy.

Daddy's Shoes

William loves his daddy and every day he can't wait for him to come home from work, and he often says, "I just want daddy to come home." If he is missing him too much he will ask me to call him on the phone. I need to get video of Nora and William running around with excitement when Chris gets home.

Wearing Daddy's shoes!

He has been coming up with some very interesting silly little faces.
